MARYLAND Chapter

Noelle Chun (전성령) –
President & Co-Founder (회장, 공동 창업자)
Why KDK? We established KDK to take the lead in helping people unfamiliar with KD by informing them about its symptoms and treatments so they can respond appropriately. Because it is uncommon in the United States, physicians often overlook it. However, it appears more frequently in Korean Americans and can be severe, so it is essential to be aware of this disease. To address this, we are leading and promoting the KDF in Maryland.

Why KDK? I joined the Kawasaki Disease Foundation to raise awareness and support families affected by this overlooked and rare illness. It’s meaningful to be part of a community working toward earlier diagnosis and better outcomes for children. Being able to contribute to a cause that truly makes a difference especially because I am part of the main demographic this disease affects is very fulfilling.

Why KDK? I chose KDK because I was searching for an organization that instead of focusing on broader categories like future doctor, was more specific and unique. This way, I feel more connected, and I can really get to understand the specific disease, rather than big ideas.

Why KDK? I joined KDK because I saw it as an opportunity to be part of a community raising awareness for a disease that has affected many families. I enjoy helping people, but this was a unique chance to help draw attention, amongst the general public and families that may be affected, on a less-known disease. Through this organization, every person that is helped would be a huge success in my mind.
